Moon phases for beginners

A built-in rhythm for starting things, building them, releasing them, and resting.

The Moon moves through a full cycle every twenty-nine and a half days, from dark to full and back again. You can read that cycle as a built-in rhythm for starting things, building them, releasing them, and resting before you begin once more.

The four turning points

New Moon — plant and start small. First Quarter — push through friction. Full Moon — see what comes to light. Last Quarter — release, edit, and make space.

You do not have to force growth. Keep showing up across the cycle.

Living with it

You do not need a ritual kit. Noticing the phase is most of the practice. Begin projects near the New Moon, expect to renegotiate them around the Full Moon, and give yourself permission to slow down in the waning days.
